Mamelodi Sundowns revealed that Alje Schut and Rashid Sumaila, are doubtful for the team’s upcoming game against Kaizer Chiefs.
Both players have been influential for Sundowns so far in the 2013/14 season. Schut and Sumalia have developed a good understanding between themselves in the team’s defence.
“Mamelodi Sundowns technical team is sweating as they monitor the condition of central defensive duo, Alje Schut and Rashid Sumaila, who are doubtful for the crucial league clash against Kaizer Chiefs on Thursday.
"Although the pair managed to travel with the rest of the team to Zambia, they did not take part in any of the friendly matches. Schut is nursing a hip injury, while Sumalia is still recovering from the hamstring pull he suffered in Sundowns’ last league match in 2013 against Maritzburg United.
"The doctors will also be keeping an eye on Bongani Zungu and Surprise Moriri who picked up minor knocks in Zambia.
"Dove Wome, who was suspected to have picked up malaria has been cleared, as test results show no sign of malaria. He is training with the rest of the team.
"Cuthbert Malajila is another player that the technical team will be holding thumbs for, hoping that he fully recovers.
"Sibusiso Kumalo, who played in all the matches in Zambia as a right back also picked up a knee injury during the camp,” sundownsfc.co.za revealed.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has Hlompho Kekana, Katlego Mashego, Tebogo Langerman and Bryce Moon back with the team, following the elimination of Bafana Bafana from the CHAN tournament.
