The South African Police Service (SAPS) have provided further update with the developments in the murder investigation of the late Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper and captain, Senzo Meyiwa.
On Friday, October 31, it was reported that three suspects matching the descriptions of the identikit released by the SAPS were detained and interrogated by the police during the course of the weekend.
In tweets filtering through from the SAPS via their official twitter account, it has been announced that the three individuals taken in for questioning have been released as they could not be linked to the crime.
Tweets from the SAPS read;
“SAPS GP Lt Gen Moonoo - the public has been very helpful in Senzo Meyiwa case & we follow up on every piece of information.”
“SAPS GP three people taken in for questioning over weekend could not be positively linked to Senzo Meyiwa case and were released, Lt Gen Moonoo SD.
“SAPS GP Gen Moonoo-We maintain that information currently at our disposal suggests that it was a robbery gone horribly wrong.
“SAPS GP Lt Gen Moonoo - We are sure about 2 persons being directly involved in Senzo Meyiwa case i.e. on premises, but still investigating SD, " the tweets further stated.
