After several chances went begging for Bafana Bafana in their clash against Angola on Wednesday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, defender Siyabonga Sangweni opened the scoring with a first-half strike.
The Orlando Pirates defender told the Siya crew that it felt incredible to score in the national jersey and help the team win. In addition, he said that scoring in his home province was an added bonus.
“We wanted a win, and to win, we needed goals. To get the goals we had to attack. We put them under pressure and we knew we would score. It felt great when I scored. I didn't know whether to celebrate or cry.
“You know this is my home and I have played a lot at Moses Mabhida, so scoring that goal meant a lot not just to me but to the team as well. We have taken pressure off our shoulders now and we have to keep on winning until the end," the Orlando Pirates defender concluded.
