News reaching the Siya-crew is that former Amazulu goalkeeper Mandla Sangweni, the brother of Orlando Pirates’ Siyabonga and Mamelodi Sundowns’ Thamsanqa, has been arrested for shooting his uncle, Vusumuzi.
Mandla joined Amazulu at the start of the 2012/2013 season, but failed to make the grade at the PSL club, and midway through the season was loaned to feeder club, Durban Warriors, before he was released at the end of the season.
Vusumuzi Sangweni remains in a critical, but stable condition in hospital, after being shot at home following an argument.
“What I can say [is that] my father was attacked …He was shot in his yard. He didn’t go anywhere or out to provoke anyone,” the daughter of Vusumuzi Sangweni told the SABC.
“His brother’s son, they came, and then they quarrelled and then gunshots were heard.
“The gun belongs to Siyabonga Sangweni who plays for Orlando Pirates, but he [Vusumuzi] was shot by Mandla.”
