Eto’o On Watching Sundowns And Whether He Would Play In The PSL
Samuel Eto'o Has Commented On The Level Of Football In Mzansi And Whether He Would Consider Playing In the PSL
Former Barcelona star, Samuel Eto’o was in South Africa to participate in the launch of the Castle Africa Fives tournament and the Cameroonian shared some of his opinions on the level of football in Mzansi.
The striker, who is an official ambassador for Castle Africa, doesn’t seem like he will be hanging up his boots from the beautiful game just yet, as he is still currently enjoying professional football for Antalyaspor in Turkey’s top flight.
Speaking to the media at the launch of the Castle Africa Fives event, Eto’o said that he rates the level in the Premier Soccer League as one of the best in Africa, although, would not comment on whether he would possibly be open to plying his trade in Mzansi’s top flight.
“(Laughs) No, no, tomorrow is so far, I want to enjoy today,” Eto’o said after being asked whether he would consider coming to play in South Africa for a team like Mamelodi Sundowns.
The former Inter Milan striker then went on to reveal that he often keeps an eye on South African football and recently watched the Absa Premiership clash between Ajax Cape Town and Sundowns.
“Yes of course. I watched Ajax against Sundowns, the level is very high and the (best) level in Africa, but they have to make this level (higher),” he said.
