News reaching the Siya crew is that there are indications of opposing allegiances within the South African Masters and Legends Football Association (SAMLFA) over their preferred nominee for the position of SAFA president.
It was reported that SAMLFA were backing former Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba who is also currently the chairperson of SAMLFA Gauteng for the presidential seat.

However, a new twist of events SAMLFA has emerged to say they are fully behind current South African Football Association President Dr Danny Jordaan who is touted for re-election for the presidential seat on 24 March 2018.
Speaking exclusively to Soccer Laduma SAMLFA President, Buti Mathathe cleared the air stating that his organisation is fully behind Dr Jordaan and his re-election as SAFA President for another four-year term.
“Let me clear things as SAMLFA we are fully behind Dr Jordaan and not Mr Shakes Mashaba. We want that to be known to all our partners and stakeholders as well as members of the football fraternity,” he told Siya crew.
He further went to state that he and the national executive of SAMLFA been formally informed that chairperson of Gauteng; Shakes Mashaba intends and has been endorsed to stand as a candidate for any position.

“Personally, I think, and according to our constitution, it is totally in violation of our constitution for any member to take a unilateral decision to stand for a National position without following the correct processes and procedures,” added Mathathe.
The scramble to the SAFA Presidential elections has culminated in the likes of former national executive committee member Nakedi Lekota and former SAFA vice-president Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana, politician-turned-businessman Tokyo Sexwale, former PSL match referee Ace Ncobo, as well as former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe, being among the names mentioned for the SAFA top seat, come the elections.
