As Club Sale Reports Continue SAFPU Waits On PSL…

The South African Football Players Union (SAFPU) is waiting on the PSL regarding latest club sale reports in Mzansi.

Both Bloemfontein Celtic and Bidvest Wits are reportedly being sold, with potential new owners expected to be in charge of the two clubs before the start of the new season, if all goes according to plan between all the parties.

SAFPU is concerned about the future of the players if the two clubs get sold, and speaking to the Siya crew, the union’s president Thulaganyo Gaoshubelwe said they are waiting on the response to the letter they have sent to the league.

“Hence we have, as an organisation, written a letter to the league, which we always do. Remember we signed a CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) with the league (SAFPU and PSL signed a bargaining agreement last year). Part of the CBA is to address the very same issue, both discussions and engagements on issues of the players and so forth,” he said.

“We have written a letter to the league trying to find out what is the situation, because we have heard that there are these allegations and reports that clubs are being sold, and that they have exchanged hands and so forth. We have received a response from the league which said they have not received anything formally written that talks about that. They indicated that what we heard is what they heard themselves. So, we are still waiting and hoping that we will get an answer,” Gaoshubelwe added.
