Update On Jordaan’s Rape Allegations
SAFA Have Provided An Update On Rape Allegations Against Danny Jordaan
The South African Football Association has announced that its National Executive Committee will support their President, Danny Jordaan, on the allegations of rape levelled against him.
Rape allegations have been made against Jordaan by former African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament, Jennifer Ferguson.
The allegations surfaced in October last year, and again this year, where Ferguson claimed that Jordaan allegedly raped her at a Nelson Mandela Bay hotel 25 years ago.
A charge of rape against Jordaan has since been laid at a Johannesburg police station. There have been calls from various sectors of the community, calling for Jordaan to step down from his position as SAFA president.
However, in a press conference today (Thursday), SAFA confirmed that its NEC will support Jordaan on the rape allegations against him, and citing that he is innocent until proven guilty.
