After the Siya crew revealed that the SABC cameramen working at the Chan tournament were threatening to down tools, an urgent meeting hours before last night’s games was convened.
According to a Soccer-Laduma source, the SABC crew working in Polokwane decided to continue working after they met a representative of the national broadcaster, known only as Mr Nick, who promised that they would be paid today.
It has emerged that the crew had not been paid since December and were not getting daily allowances since the beginning of the tournament. However, the impasse has been resolved, according to information making its way to the Siya crew.
Our source has revealed that the cameramen were indeed paid today, as promised, and all hands will be on deck in the quarterfinal match that will be played at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
