The South Africa U17 national team will be out to prove their readiness for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, in their game against Mali in the final of CAF Africa Youth Championship on Sunday.
Amajimbos’ assistant coach, Shawn Bishop, says his side is looking forward to the Mali game, already having an idea of what to expect from their opponents, from the experience of their game earlier in the campaign.
“The boys are quite confident and looking forward to the game. We have already come up against Mali in the tournament. So they know what to expect. We will plan for Mali over the next two days and concentrate on beating them in the 90 minutes,” said Bishop.
Bishop has explained that there have been no injury concerns for the team in their preparations for the game.
“We will not single out any individual players, but we are looking to a few to lift the team and perform. We have no injury concerns so we are stuck with adage of who to select to the final. The players are also aware that this is their chance to convince the coaches that they are ready to go to Chile,” explained Bishop.
