Bantwana On The Brink Of WC Qualification

SA U17 Women's National Team on the verge of WC qualification

The women’s U-17 national team football team, Bantwana is on the brink of a second World Cup qualification following an impressive 5-1 victory over Morocco this past weekend.

Bantwana displayed a dominant performance against their North African opponents with Karabo Dlamini bagging a brace. SA U-17 coach Simphiwe Dludlu attributed the performance of her players to a solid defence structure.

“When you know how to defend soundly, then you can build on that foundation and attack confidently,” she told Soccer Laduma.

Dludlu went on to further to admit that heading to in their return fixture against Morocco she is a ball of nervous owing to the fact that will be the match to determine the squad’s qualification for the 2018 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

“I’m a little nervous (about) the implications of our last match against Morocco. But these are good nerves. We will make sure that we are on our A-game and that we don’t allow ourselves to be thrown off-guard by anything,” added the former Banyana Banaya international.

Heading into the second leg of the qualifier Bantwana will be without their two-goal heroine Dlamini, who was sent off following receiving a red card for dangerous play.

The U17 Women’s World Cup finals are scheduled to take place from 13 November 2018 to 1 December 2018 in Uruguay.
