Chiefs’ Moon On Suarez, Kane And His Amakhosi Mentor

Kaizer Chiefs’ Ryan Moon idolises players like Luis Suarez and Harry Kane, but it’s one of his teammates that he learns the most from as he continues his development.
The 21-year-old forward has scored three goals in his last four games for the Amakhosi, linking up with Siphiwe Tshabalala to find the back of the net with his head on all three occasions.
“The balls from Shabba just came to me,” he told Chiefs’ official website. “It’s part intuition, part training, as we do practice a lot on finishing at training.”
Now the club’s joint top scorer this season, Moon has revealed who works as his mentor at Naturena.
He said, “I watch a lot of different strikers. Here at Kaizer Chiefs, I learn a lot from Bernard Parker, who regularly talks to me what to do in certain situations. Bernard played at the highest level in Europa and he mentors me a lot from what he learnt, which is fantastic.
“Otherwise, I look at all types of strikers – each has his own strength to learn from. The best examples to watch at the moment are, of course, Barcelona’s Luis Suárez and Tottenham Hotspurs’ Harry Kane. They are unbelievable.”
Chiefs take on Golden Arrows in the Nedbank Cup tomorrow as Moon looks to add to his goal tally for the season.
