As Mokwena Gets Another Chance Against Chiefs & Co…

All is set for Rulani Mokwena to lead Chippa United in their top eight aspirations, starting with this coming weekend’s match against Bidvest Wits.

Mokwena has been unveiled as the new head coach of Chippa today (Wednesday), following the resignation of Norman Mapeza on Monday, after the Eastern Cape team’s 1-0 win against AmaZulu at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.

Following their stuttering start to the season, from which the team failed to win a single match in eight fixtures and were at the bottom of the log, Zimbabwean coach Norman Mapeza steered the Chilli Boys to six victories from 15 league matches at the helm.

The Port Elizabeth outfit is in 11th place on the standings, and with a chance to finish in a comfortable position in the top eight, with seven matches to go in the 2019/20 campaign.

Interestingly, Mokwena faced all the teams that Chippa are still to play in their remaining fixtures, during his tenure as the caretaker coach of Orlando Pirates.
