The Siya crew revealed earlier this morning that the Chilli Boys were in talks with Pirates and the coach’s representatives about bringing Mokwena on board as a replacement for Norman Mapeza, and it was later announced by the Buccaneers that he would be joining Chippa until the end of the season.

Now, as Mokwena looks to delve into the next chapter of his young career, he says that he’s looking forward to the challenge of making sure the club keep their place in the Absa Premiership come the end of the 2019/20 season.

A statement from the coach’s agent read, “Rulani Mokwena’s agent Steve Kapeluschnik has confirmed that his client has signed a four-month contract that will see him remain in charge at Chippa United Football Club until the end of the season.

“Kapeluschnik confirms that after meeting with the Chairman of Orlando Pirates Football Club Dr Khoza gave his blessing for Rulani to move on with his career and to join Chippa United.”

Meanwhile, the talented young coach said of his move, “Firstly, I would like to thank the Chairman of Orlando Pirates for giving me the opportunity to coach his club, also to thank the players and Technical team for all their hard work and the supporters for always believing in me.

“I now look forward to starting this new chapter in my career, to getting back on the field and helping Chippa retain their top-flight status.”
