Sad news coming out of KwaZulu-Natal is that Thanda Royal Zulu coach, Roger Sikhakhane, is still hospitalised and has not yet fully recovered from his illness.
Sikhakhane led Thanda to their promotion back to the PSL, following an impressive 2016/17 NFD campaign. Thanda lost only two games out of 30 this season.
The KZN outfit collected an impressive 62 points from 17 wins and 11 draws under Sikhakhane and breezed their way to promotion to Mzansi’s top tier.
However, the promotion celebrations for the title-winning coach was disrupted by illness, as he is currently receiving medical attention in hospital.
“The coach is in hospital. He hasn’t been feeling well. All that we can do for now is to wish him a speedy recovery,” a source close to Sikhakhane told the Siya crew.
Thanda are planning to Sikhakhane as their head coach for their 2017/18 Absa Premiership campaign, although the parties are yet to reach an agreement on the matter.
Sikhakhane was a notable absentee from Thanda’s celebrations when the team was handed the NFD trophy, after their game against Real Kings at Sugar Ray Xulu stadium last Sunday.
Soccer Laduma wishes the coach a speedy recovery.
