Ajax Cape Town coach, Roger De Sa, reveals that he’ll be assessing a Kenyan player on trial at the club this week.
De Sa said Kevin Omondi arrived at the club yesterday, but he didn’t see much of the player as he was getting his troops ready for the Bloemfontein Celtic game tonight.
Speaking to the crew, the former shot-stopper said the 23-year-old will stay and train with the club until Friday. The midfielder is currently plays for Gor Mahia in the Kenyan Premier League.
“Yeah look, we have a Kenyan player who joined to train with us yesterday. Unfortunately I can’t say much about him because I didn’t have enough time to look at him. You know we’re looking forward to our game against Celtic tonight, but we hope we’ll be impressed by him. We’ll definitely make a decision by the end of the week.
“We’ve done well to prepare for this game despite injuries. We’ve lost Thami (Sangweni) and he’s doubtful for our final game, but that’s been the case in our games this season. In our last three games, we had the same injury problems where we only had 18 players. We’re limited in terms of the availability of players but the guys are trying hard. You get some good performances and some nasty performances and it’s part of football at the end of the day. For me it’s an opportunity to work on what we have and what we can do for the next season,” said De Sa.
The Urban Warriors currently occupy 10th position with 35 points after 28 games.
Tonight's game against Siwelele gets underway at 19:30.
