Although Ajax Cape Town drew 2-2 against struggling Golden Arrows at the Cape Town Stadium last night, Urban Warriors coach, Roger De Sa, says his boys stopped playing.
The former Orlando Pirates man was not happy after the game against Abafana Bes’thende about certain aspects of the game.
On-loan Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Eleazar Rodgers, struck twice as the Urban Warriors bounced back from behind to rescue a point.
De Sa said, I wasn’t happy at all because I warned the players against conceding penalties and free kicks at this time of the season.
“The goal from the penalty spot lifted them a bit. After that we tried to play a bit more, but the goal would not come. We created but could not convert our chances, those things happen, but you need to keep on playing. In the second half, we pressed them back into their own half for long periods, but could not find the back of the net. We stopped playing to our strengths, using the wings to get into their box.
“They battled with the crosses into the penalty area and we should have capitalized on that aspect of the game. With Eleazar lurking in the box, we always stood a chance. We made the changes, but yet again we still did not get enough crosses in. The few decent crosses we did get in, we converted to get a share of the points,” added De Sa.
Ajax will aim to rectify their errors when they clash against SuperSport United next Tuesday at Cape Town Stadium.
