Ajax Cape Town and Sean Roberts are set to part ways, with indications coming out of the Cape-based side that the goalkeeper has fallen out of favour with the side.
Roberts, who has been used mainly as a second choice shot-stopper since his arrival at Ajax from Wits, is expected to be shown the exit door, with the club and player currently locked in negotiations regarding a settlement figure.
Having turned out for a number of clubs during his career, including Sheffield Wednesday (England), Home United (Singapore) and Mamelodi Sundowns, the Durban-born player has never really been able to establish himself at the Urban Warriors, with his spell at the club having been marred by a number of injuries.
High ranking officials within the Urban Warriors camp have revealed to Soccer-Laduma that Roberts has fallen out of favour with coach Muhsin Erutgral and that after the club offered the 30-year-old a three-month settlement deal, the player’s camp turned down the offer.
In addition, sources at the club have explained that Roberts’ business interest, where he helps professional football players invest their money, is in conflict of interest with playing for the club.
