Rob Moore, who was involved in Benni McCarthy’s promotion to Europe during his professional footballing days, has congratulated the Bafana Bafana legend on securing his first head coach role.
Soccer Laduma broke the news of McCarthy’s link to the then-vacant head coach role at Cape Town City following Eric Tinkler’s departure last week.
As predicted by the Siya crew, McCarthy was unveiled as the new head coach of City yesterday, June 13, with the club taking just under seven days to conclude a deal for the 39-year-old.
McCarthy recently obtained his UEFA A coaching license and is currently on his way to secure his UEFA Pro license, where he will be qualified to coach any club around the globe, including outfits in Europe’s top flights.
Now, Bafana’s all-time top goal scorer takes on his first job as a head coach in his career and his representatives at On Target has wished him well on his new journey.
“I wish him all the success and I am very proud of him. We started with him when he was 17-years-old and he was the guy who was always up for any challenge. We are looking forward to seeing him succeed and develop great players,” Moore told Soccer Laduma.
“We are happy and looking forward to him having success in his coaching as he did in his professional footballing days,” Lance Davids added.
