Chippa United will not be reuniting with Ernst Middendorp despite reports linking the club with their former coach.
As the Gqeberha-based club has been preparing for the relegation/promotion play-offs which have again been postponed, there have been reports that the side might be considering reinforcing the technical team with Middendorp who successfully saved Maritzburg United from relegation this past season.
Middendorp returned to the Team of Choice in November for his fourth spell.
While the German mentor has delivered on the mandate of keeping the club in the top-flight and with the Pietermaritzburg outfit expected to keep him as the head coach for the new season, there have been reports that the 62-year-old mentor is earmarked for a return to Chippa.
The Chilli Boys have recently re-united with Lehlohonolo Seema to lead the team in the play-offs where they will be fighting for survival in Mzansi's top tier football.
Middendorp previously had a spell with Chippa in 2015, between January and March, before going on to accept a role at Free State Stars later that year.
“It must be some of those crazy rumours of this time of the season and there are no plans to re-appoint Ernst Middendorp to coach the team at this stage of the season,” a source at Chippa told the Siya crew.
“I mean, the club is preparing for the play-offs and that’s where the focus is right now, and there are no plans to make changes in the technical team,” said the source.
