Referee Won’t Comment On Allegations And Threats

Referee Victor Hlungwani will not comment on what transpired after the PSL match between Black Leopards and Bloemfontein Celtic at the weekend.

In a match played at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday, as Leopards marked a return to the venue after the team could not play some of its home matches there earlier in the season, Celtic beat Leopards 1-0 to reach Bidvest Wits on 13 points at the top of the PSL log.

Leopards chairman David Thidiela was not happy after the match and the chairman allegedly uttered some harsh words to Hlungwani who was the match referee. Furthermore, it is alleged that accusations and threats were directed at the match official.

Contacted for comment, Hlungwani refused to speak about the incident but directed all the questions to SAFA and the PSL.

“The issue is with SAFA and PSL so I can’t comment. SAFA and the PSL are the ones who can comment,” said Hlungwani.

Hlungwani was the match referee in the 2-2 draw between Leopards and Chippa United at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane on August 18.

Meanwhile, Leopards are scheduled to visit SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on September 23 in their next match.
