Mamelodi Sundowns defender, Rashid Sumaila, says that the club want him back in South Africa as soon as possible, despite the fact that he can’t be registered for the PSL.
It was revealed yesterday that Masandawana had sent a letter to Asante Kotoko requesting that the 22-year-old’s season-long loan be cut short, with his return to Mzansi said to be imminent.
However, the defender could face a difficult few months due to the fact that Sundowns cannot register him for league games having exhausted their foreign quota, meaning that he will only be available for action during their CAF inter-club competition campaign.
Despite his unavailability for league competition, Sumaila told GHANASoccernet.com, “Sundowns have sent a mail to Kotoko to release me as they want me back as soon as possible.
“I will return to Kumasi to pack and try to get back as soon as possible. All I want to do now is get back to playing football that is the only thing in my mind.”
Downs return to training today as they begin their preparations for the second half of the Absa Premiership season.
