Bafana Bafana international, Tokelo Rantie, missed Bournemouth’s draw with Ipswich Town last night due to a stomach complaint.
The 23-year-old forward has had a tough time in England since making the move from Malmo FF in Sweden, scoring just once in 14 league games, although he has managed to grab four assists along the way.
Rantie remained on the bench in the 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday last week, and was surprisingly omitted from the squad for the Ipswich game last night.
However, Bournemouth Echo journalist, Neil Perrett, has since confirmed that Rantie’s absence was due to illness.
He tweeted, “Boss Eddie Howe confirmed Tokelo Rantie's absence today was due to a stomach problem.”
It is thought that the striker, who scored a stunning goal against Burnley recently, should be available for The Cherries’ when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion on New Years Day.
Rantie's next game for Bafana is likely to be in March when South Africa hosts Brazil at FNB Stadium in a friendly encounter.
