Cape Verde are playing in the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in the nation’s history. They open their account of Africa’s most prestigious cup against Bafana Bafana in the opening game of the 2013 Afcon at the National Stadium in Soweto.
The stadium will be filled with home support for South Africa, however Cape Verde defender Guy Ramos says that they won't feel intimidated by the local fans. He said that they have played in front of capacity crowds before, and won.
He told the Siya crew that in Cameroon they went in as the underdogs and came out as the victors.
"We know this is different because South Africa is hosting and they would want to go far in the tournament. We have come here to learn and we have nothing to lose, so this won't intimidate us.
“We will just play our normal game and make sure we do well. Whatever results we get on Saturday will mean something to the team as we will gain experience," the Holland-based defender concluded.
