Mphahlele Discusses Amakhosi’s New Man In Charge
Ramahlwe Mphahlele Says Kaizer Chiefs Are Adapting To Giovanni Solinas
Ramahlwe Mphahlele says that Giovanni Solinas is a man that strives for perfection, insisting that Kaizer Chiefs’ players are trying their best to give him what he wants.
This weekend will see the return of the Absa Premiership with a showpiece game at Loftus Verself Stadium as the Amakhosi face Mamelodi Sundowns in the first round of the 2018/19 season.
With Solinas sitting on the bench for the first time after acquiring his work permit, all eyes will be on the Italian to get off to a good start with the Glamour Boys and begin working towards silencing his critics.
‘Rama’, who will be facing his former team, has given some insight into working with the 50-year-old, explaining that they’ve had to adapt since he came on board.
Speaking at the MTN8 launch earlier this week, the defender said, “He wants to do things the way he wants and for the team to play the way he wants… Change is not easy‚ especially at the beginning, but we are adapting, we are doing everything in our power.
We’re trying to work with him to say ‘OK‚ this can be done‚ this can’t be done’. We are working very hard, especially off the pitch where we have to try and iron out little things and try and fix the team.
“It takes time. It’s a new era. We lost our coach last season‚ now it’s a new coach. We have to try and get to a high level. He’s a very aggressive coach. He wants perfection. He wants us to work hard. He wants us to change the mentality.”
Solinas faced Sundowns twice during his time with Free State Stars, losing on both occasions.
