The victory moved Chiefs up to second spot and the full-back was pleased with side's perseverance throughout the match.
"We fought hard, we knew that Chippa were going to play and keep the ball and we didn't give up, we fought," Mphahlele said after the game.
"When you keep on trying, something has to give and (George) Lebese scored the goal and I'm just very happy for the guys, we've been working very hard.
The defender was also delighted to see Lebese score, after he missed a glaring chance in the first half.
"That ball from Shabba, I should have attacked the ball but I waited for it. I would have felt very bad if we didn't score because I knew that was a clear-cut chance, but I'm just happy we collected three points," he added.
