Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach, Rainer Dinkelacker, has spoken about the goalkeeper he taught a lot, during his 14-year-spell with the Naturena-based outfit.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma in an exclusive interview in edition 966, the German-born man was asked, whom his favourite goalkeeper during his 14-year stay with Chiefs was.
“It’s a difficult question. I must be honest… all of them had something special. It was not only Itumeleng Khune, Reyaad Pieterse, Brilliant Khuzwayo or Brian Baloyi.
“There was Rowen Fernandez and Arthur Bartman. There was also Emile Baron, who was outstanding.
“Out of all of them, I can’t say which one was my favourite. If you’re a goalkeeper coach, you can’t have a darling,” the 67-year-old said.
“I can say with Khune that I taught him a lot and I’m happy about that. Brian was my first goalkeeper and I’m happy that he’s now a goalkeeper coach, so he’s also a special one.
“Rowen couldn’t catch the ball properly when I started with him and he became a Bafana goalkeeper.
“Every one of them had something special and all of them are my boys,” Dinkelacker concluded.
Which of the abovementioned goalkeepers do you regard as the best?
