R8000 A Goal In Nedbank Cup

The Nedbank Cup will give away close to R2m to the Sports Trust in 2013 to build a multi-purpose sports centre for a school through goals for goal - where every goal scored will be paid R8 000.

Nedbank's Marketing and Communication Affairs manager Thulani Sibeko said that this in an innovation which will help develop the game from a lower level.

Sibeko told the Siya crew that the bank, together with the teams, will help raise this money to help the selected school.

"Last year we raised just over R1m and this year we want to go beyond that as we raise the money for each goal scored. Last year a goal scored was worth R2 000, but this year we have raised the amount to R8 000 so that we can save more money for Nedbank Sports Development. Last year 95 goals were scored and we are hoping for more goals this season," Sibeko explained.
