Mamelodi Sundowns defender, Punch Masenamela, is still not with the team. The left-back, who has three league starts next to his name this season, was allegedly involved in faking his own kidnapping as reported by the Siya crew on Sunday.
In our investigation after the story broke onto the local media on the weekend, Soccer Laduma was told by a source at the club that Masenamela did not return home after travelling with the team as part of the 18-man match day squad for the game against Golden Arrows in KZN recently.
A Soccer Laduma source confirmed that the player did not report to the club today (Monday, May 5) as the club prepare for their title-championship match against SuperSport United tomorrow evening. The source however did explain that his agent will be meeting with him to discuss the matter.
“The player’s agent will be meeting with Punch to talk about the matter. They haven’t spoken yet because he isn’t with the team. They will talk about it when they finally meet,” said the source.
It is alleged that Masenamela told his wife that he was kidnapped, although it was later discovered that the story was allegedly made up.
