PSL Tweets of the Week

It’s Monday, which means it’s time for the top 10 Tweets of the Week from South African football.

This weekend’s big news was Platinum Stars’ MTN8 victory over Orlando Pirates, something that the club was extremely proud of.

@PlatinumStarsFC: “What has been planned by God will never be shaken nor distracted by a human being. We believed and we were granted. @MTN8 is ours! Victory!”

Meanwhile, several members of the football fraternity wished them well.

Itumeleng Khune – Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana captain:

@IIKHUNE_32_16: “Congrats to Platinum Stars. They deserve to win something especially after a Good run they had last season.”

Brand de Villiers – PSL CEO:

@branddevilliers: “Congratulations to @PlatinumStarsFC, Allan Freese and his technical staff on winning the 2013 #MTN8.”

Moroka Swallows – Last year’s MTN8 winners:

@MorokaSwallows: “Congratulations Platinum Stars on winning the MTN8 Cup tonight!”

Maritzburg United defender, Thabang Matuka, was there to watch.

@thabangmatuka: “Durban for the final... Hauweeeeeng!!”

Not only did Pirates lose the game, but it looks like they’ve lost Patrick Phungwayo for the season too.

@PPhungwayo: “God knows why we lost and why I'm injured so #teamGod #notlosingfaith.”

However, there was some good news for the Buccaneers in the last week as they qualified for the CAF Champions League semifinals. Former winger, Sameehg Doutie, sent his congratulations.

@SDoutie: “@YesWeCrann @Soccer_Laduma up the Bucs. Semi final. Wot an achievement they going for that second star nothing more to say, making SA proud.”

Meanwhile SuperSport United’s defender, Roscoe Pietersen, wished South Africa well on Heritage Day.

@therealrossip: “Happy Heritage Day to all... Lets enjoy and celebrate this day. Oh yes, and don't forget about the braai.”

On that same day Chiefs went out of the MTN8 on aggregate after drawing to Pirates, something that saddened Tsepo Masilela.

@TsepoMasilela: “Thank you so very much to all who came to support #Khosi we gave it our best thou we lost but the journey continues.”

One person that seemingly had a lot to say after Chiefs’ defeat was former coach, Ted Dumitru, however Chiefs' Media Officer, Luthando Zibeko, stuck up for the club.

@LuthandoZibeko: “Ted Dumitru is predictable; he was no where to be seen when Chiefs claimed the double...now he is mushrooming after MTN loss.”

Check out the Soccer-Laduma website next Monday for a whole new host of Mzansi-based tweets.
