PSL Tweets Of The Week

It’s Monday, which means it’s time for the top 10 Tweets of the Week from South African football.

With the January transfer window well and truly underway, and the CHAN tournament upon us, the tweets this week have largely been focused on those two events.

SAFA praised Bafana Bafana for their ‘gritty’ win over Mozambique:
@SAFA_net: “Bafana Bafana made a perfect start to the CHAN tournament with a gritty 3-1 win over Mozambique…”

While captain, Itumeleng Khune, praised goalscorer, Hlompho Kekana, for his stunning goal:
@IIKHUNE_32_16: “What a rocket from @Hlompho_Kekana. Well done homie. Keep up the gud work.”

To which the midfielder replied:
@Hlompho_Kekana: “@IIKHUNE_32_16 Well done Captain leading from the front and always good to play with all dese players :D”

Kekana’s Sundowns teammate, Teko Modise, was also watching:
@Donadoni10: “Will always support my country. CHAN kicks-off on Saturday, wish the team well.”

Meanwhile, Bafana regular, Anele Ngcongca, was handed the captain’s armband at Genk in Belgium:
@MikeMakaab: “Very proud of @ProsportInt Anele Ngcongca @thetera16 - the new captain of Genk!”

And another Belgium-based South African, Darren Keet, sent a birthday wish to a former teammate:
@popeyekeet: “Just wishing a happy birthday to @PPhungwayo still one of the best left backs I have played football with. Hope to see you back in action.”

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach, Farouk Khan, is excited by the prospect of the second half of the PSL season:
@FaroukKhan9: “PSL shifting into overdrive, No room for errors. Exciting times. New signings, league contention, relegation battle. Hope to see Positive Diski.”

While the number one name on football fan’s lips, Lehlohonolo Majoro, offered a word of warning to his followers:
@BalloJoro: “Don't lose yourself trying to please others... know where u come from and where u heading. In God I trust.”

Another player on the move is Kurt Lentjies, with his current teammate, Rowen Fernandez, saying his goodbyes:
@rowen1: “Sad to see Kurt Lenjties leaving us but wish him all the best with his new challenge!! #trueprofessional”

Finally, Orlando Pirates showed their sportsmanship, congratulating Al Ahly after the Buccaneers were pipped to the Club of the Year award:
Orlando_Pirates: “Congratulations to Al Ahly for winning CAF Club of the Year 2013 at the Glo-CAF Awards. A worthy winner.”
