PSL Tweets of the Week

It’s Monday, which means it’s time for the top 10 Tweets of the Week from South African football.

This past week has been all about Orlando Pirates’ CAF Champions League campaign, the Telkom Knockout and Bafana Bafana. We take a look at some of South Africa’s football industry tweets.

Pirates man Patrick Phungwayo was thankful that the operation on his Achilles injury went well.

@PPhungwayo: “Thank u lord for my successful operation now only time will determine how long I'm gonna be out for not forgetting the support I get thank u.”

Meanwhile, Bucs were touched by the amount of support they have received throughout their CCL campaign.

@Orlando_Pirates: “To the fans of other local teams who have continued to rally behind the team in this competition, your support has not gone unnoticed.”

Despite drawing against Esperance at home Pirates midfielder Thandani Ntshumayelo was relatively pleased with the performance.

@RealNtshumayelo: “We did pretty well last nyt we can do better that's for sure well done gents THANK YOU LORD…”

One shock last week was the move of Clifford Mulenga from SuperSport United to Mpumalanga Black Aces, and he says he’s going to work hard.

@CliffMulenga: “It's gonna take me a lot of hard work to break into the team but am very willing to break a leg to get in there #MpumalangaBlackAces”

While his former teammate, Thabo September, wished him the best of luck.

@Thabo_Sept_26: “@CliffMulenga all the best on ur new challenge & congratulation. Keep the faith & let God guide ur journey. It was an honor playing with u.”

Kagisho Dikgacoi was set to return to action for Crystal Palace against Liverpool, although injury unfortunately ruled him out.

@KGDikgacoi: “Back from suspension and I will be available for selection. Feels good to be back.”

Paul Mitchell, the agent of three of Gordon Igesund’s Bafana Bafana players, wished his clients well.

@siyavumasports: “Congrats to @siyavumasports clients Siyanda Xulu, Buhle Mkhwanazai and Keegan Dolly on their Bafana call ups.”

Also congratulating Dolly was his Ajax Cape Town teammate, Thulani Hlatshwayo.

@ThulaniTyson03: “Congrats to my boy @keagandolly for the national team call up well deserved charlie..,!#urbanwarrior”

Kaizer Chiefs’ sports scientist, Joshua Smith, called upon the Amakhosi faithful before their 3-0 Telkom Knockout win over Polokwane City.

@josh_smith_RSA: “Off to Polokwane today for our #TelkomKnockOut game against Polokwane City tomorrow. Let's pack that stadium @Amakhosi_Fans #TKO2013 #K4L”

While Prosport International agent, Paschalis Tountouris, wished Mogakolodi Ngele a happy birthday.

@Tountouris: “Happy birthday @tsotsongele - You will be moving soon to our @ProsportInt... European department. Work hard and keep strong!”
