According to the organisers of the Bloodriver Annual Spring Soccer Tournament (BASST), a Kaizer Chiefs star was one of the PSL players that attended the event this week.
The BASST was held in Limpopo on Heritage Day, as confirmed by tournament organisers.
In a statement issued to the Siya crew from the organisers, Chiefs midfielder Siphelele Ntshangase and Edgar Manaka from Polokwane City were among the players in attendance at the tournament.
“Kaizer Chiefs star midfielder Siphelele Ntshangase, Polokwane City’s Edgar ‘Stiga’ Manaka and TTM’s Khunadi Nkoana were among those on the sidelines when T-Boss FC from Seshego were crowned Bloodriver Annual Spring Soccer Tournament (BASST) champions on Heritage Day,” read the statement from tournament organisers.
“T-Boss FC beat Mabotja Tiger FC 5-4 on penalties in the final to mark the end of an intriguing inaugural tournament featuring 16 clubs and played over two weekends from 16-24 September.
It is tournaments like these through which raw talent is unearthed and future stars are born, and the professional trio of Ntshangase, Manaka and Nkoana must have been pleased with some of the performances they saw which wowed and awed spectators,” the statement read.
Organiser Joey Maleka paid tribute to all involved in making the inaugural tournament an instant success.
“We acknowledge the soccer loving people of Bloodriver and surrounding communities and everyone that supported BASST throughout the four days. The massive crowd turnout we had on what was an inaugural edition showed just how much appetite there is for regular football in the area, hence we intend to make this tournament even better next year," said Maleka.
Maleka confirmed that the tournament carried a winners prize of R10 000 plus soccer kit, trophy and medals. The runners-up received R5000 and medals, while third and fourth place received R2500 each.
