Two PSL clubs that have each had five red cards against them this past season, with their some of their players among the league’s bad boys this past Absa Premiership campaign.
AmaZulu and Free State Stars top the charts for the number of red cards collected this past season.
Both clubs had five red cards apiece shown against them by the match officials. Usuthu’s red cards were for Michael Morton (2), Phumlani Gumede, Butholezwe Ncube and Sadate Ouro-Akoriko, while the ones for Ea Lla Koto went to Paulus Masehe, Sifiso Mbhele, Patrick Phungwayo, Tebogo Potsane and Thamsanqa Teyise.
Kaizer Chiefs (Leornado Castro, Erick Mathoho and Joseph Molangoane), Bloemfontein Celtic (Lucky Baloyi, Lorenzo Gordinho and Mpho Maruping), Chippa United (Daniel Akpeyi, Abel Mabaso and Zitha Macheke), Bidvest Wits (Nazeer Allie, Slavko Damjanovic and James Keene), Maritzburg United (Yazid Atouba, Siphesihle Ndlovu and Bevan Fransman) and Golden Arrows (Danny Phiri, Jabulani Shongwe and Nduduzo Sibiya) had three red cards apiece against them.
All the other clubs either had two or less red cards against them. Orlando Pirates is the only team that finished the season without a red card against them.
In total, 28 red cards were given out to players, while there had been club coaches and officials that had been sent off during the season.
