Absa Premiership: Mpumalanga Black Aces 1-2 Bidvest Wits
Date: 5 April 2014
Venue: Mbombela Stadium
A first-half brace from Wits striker Sthembiso Ngcobo led his side to a 2-1 win over Mpumalanga Black Aces at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
Black Aces defender Method Mwanjali had the first shot of the game in the third minute of the game but his direct free-kick did not beat the Wits defensive wall and the chance was wasted.
Four minutes later and the visitors had their first effort at goal when Calvin Kadi’s cross found Asive Langwe but his shot went way over the crossbar.
Kadi was then involved two minutes later as his dangerous cross this time found Sthembiso Ngcobo who made no mistake with the finish and opened the scoring at the Mbombela Stadium for Wits to make it 1-0.
Wits striker Ngcobo then doubled his goal tally for the game and made it 2-0 to the visiting side as he produced another wonderful finish in the 15th minute after a cross from Jabulani Shongwe.
Clive Barker’s men did however claw their way back into the game when Tendai Ndoro got his head to a cross from Abia Nale to make it 2-1 with 42 minutes on the clock.
Shongwe had the first shot of the second period as he tried his luck direct from a free-kick but his effort was well held by Bafana Nhlapo in the Aces goal.
Neither side was able to add to the score-line as Wits picked up a vital three points on the road.
