Absa Premiership
Result: Ajax Cape Town 2-2 Golden Arrows
Date: 9 April 2014
Venue: Cape Town Stadium
Ajax scored a last minute goal to share the spoils in a 2-2 draw against Golden Arrows at the Cape Town Stadium in an Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday.
Keagon Dolly had the first shot of the game in the eighth minute of the game but the midfielder’s effort was not on target with Arrows responding with a shot of their own a minute later by Kgotso Polelo, which was also wayward.
The PSL’s bottom side then broke the deadlock in Cape Town with 13 minutes on the clock from the penalty spot.
Midfielder Toriq Losper was adjudged to have fouled Deon Hotto in the area and the referee pointed to the spot. Thanduyise Khuboni stepped up and made no mistake with his spot-kick to make it 1-0 to the visitors.
Losper tried to make-up for his mistake and came close to equalise for the hosts but his effort was parried to safety by Arthur Bartman on the quarter-hour mark.
Ajax goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola was then called into action on the half-hour mark as he kept his side in the game with a brilliant save to deny Christopher Katongo.
Roger De Sa’s men then grabbed an equaliser in the last few minutes of the first-half as Eleazar Rodgers finished off after a ball from Keagan Dolly to make it 1-1.
Arrows then looked to have grabbed a late winner through Festus Mbewe whose header found the back of the net in the 88th minute.
Ajax though had other ideas and Rodgers grabbed his second of the night to earn the home side a draw.
