Seven minutes later and against the run of play, the hosts took the lead through Vukile Mngqibisa's towering header.
And that was as good as it got in the first half, as Leopards finished off the first half the stronger of the two.
Thabo Rakhale almost double the hosts lead seconds after the restart, the winger went on a surging run before firing at Jacob Mokhasi, who managed to the parry the effort away.
It proved to be more of the same in the second half, as Leopards continued to see more of the ball but failed to create any clear cut openings.
Puleng Tlolane went for the spectacular in the 71st minute but his acrobatic effort was comfortably dealt with by Mokhasi.
Tlolane should have doubled the lead in the 86th minute but the Polokwane winger failed to keep his close range volley on target.
Leopards pushed on for the equaliser in the closing stages but the the hosts' defence stood firm to hold on for the win.
