Ajax were without GladAfrica Championship top goalscorer Abednego Mosiatlhaga, who sustained a hamstring injury in the loss against Black Leopards and was replaced by Chumani Butsaka in the line-up.
TTM had a bright start as Thembisani Nevhulamba opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a volley from close range after following a flick-on from Junior Sibande.
Rodgers came very close to equalising for the Urban Warriors in the 23rd minute with a header from close range at the far post that was brilliantly tipped over the bar by shot-stopper Tshepo Ramaele.
Vhadau Vha Damani were threatening on counter-attacks, as Ajax were desperate to level matters and Molibedi Mokoena rattled the post with a strike inside the box while goalkeeper Nick Hengelman denied Naeem Amoojee from close range just before the break.
Ajax finally levelled matters two minutes from the break after Siphesihle Mkhize tapped home from close range after a goal-mouth scramble that saw Thendo Makumela being denied by Ramaele and Sibande cracking the crossbar with a header.
Rodgers quickly put Calvin Marlin's charges ahead three minutes later with a tap-in at the near post from Stander's cross on the left flank.
The veteran striker then gave Ajax a two-goal cushion and grabbed his brace soon after with another close-range finish at the back, with Stander picking up the assist again.
The Urban Warriors began to ran riot as Butsaka bagged the fourth goal on the hour-mark with a thumping strike at the back post after latching onto Dale Wakefield's cross.
Rodgers had the final say as the Ajax striker completed his hat-trick five minutes later from the penalty spot after a handball in the TTM box.
As a result, Marlin's troops move top of the mini-log by a superior goal difference and level on points with Leopards, who they meet next on Friday afternoon.
