Leopards End Play-Offs With Perfect Record

PSL Promotion Play-Offs

Result: Black Leopards 2-1 Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila

Date: 21 September 2020

Venue: FNB Stadium

Black Leopards ended the play-offs with a perfect record after defeating Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila 2-1 at the FNB Stadium on Monday afternoon.

With the top-flight status secured, Lidoda Duvha shuffled the pack, with only Thivhavhudzi Ndou and Donald Makgetlwa remaining from their win over Ajax Cape Town.

The game was open from the start as Themba Ndlovu got the opener for Leopards in the 18th minute against his former side after dribbling past the defence on the right side of the box before slotting into the bottom corner with a cool finish.

Debutant Tebogo Modiba almost doubled Lidoda Duvha's lead just a minute later with a strike that came off the near post after goalkeeper Simon Mamudzidi gave away possession trying to play out from the back.

Morgan Shivambu's charges kept TTM in their own half in the closing phase of the first stanza and were unlucky not to add a third just before the break Thabiso Mokoena's powerful strike missed the bottom corner by a whisker.

Thembisani Nevhulamba had a great chance to level matters for Vhadau Vha Damani 11 minutes inside the second stanza after a bad back-pass sent him clear on goal but he was denied by shot-stopper Jonas Mendes.

The game was opening up after that and Ndlovu had a chance to make things easy for Leopards with the second goal in the last 21 minutes after receiving a pass unmarked inside the box but his curling shot towards the bottom corner was saved by substitute goalkeeper Nhlanhla Ntwa.

Ndlovu eventually put the game to bed for Leopards in the last eight minutes, as he made it 2-0 with his second goal with a cracking low left footed strike.

Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo pulled a goal back for TTM in stoppage time with a powerful strike from the penalty spot but it was too little too late as Leopards held on to record their fourth victory in a row while Vhadau Vha Damani ended the campaign without points on the board.

Here's how they line up:

Leopards: Mendes, Ndawonde, Douhadji, Ndou, Mashoene, T. Ndlovu, Mokoena, Makgetlwa, Khutlang, Modiba, Ndlovu.

TTM: Mamudzidi, Dzaga, Thangwane, Makgoga, Moremedi, Khumalo, Masegela, Nhlapo, Mandlazi, Nevhulamba, Mokoena.

Subs: Ntwa, Ndebele, Makhubu, Mbandlwa, Ndlondlo, Mashele, Mabotja, Ndou, Masegela.
