Orlando Pirates coach, Vladimir Vermezovic, admits his side were not at their best in the 1-0 win over Moroka Swallows in an Absa Premiership match on Saturday night, but they got the win and that is the most important thing.
A single goal from Tlou Segolela in the 12th minute was the difference between the two sides on the night, but besides from that the Buccaneers weren’t really in the game.
“The first half we were better, but I don’t know what happened in the second half,” said Vermezovic.
“Second half we only made more than four passes after 30 minutes, and that is something we have to analyze and find out why we dropped so much in the second half.
“At the end of the day the three points is the most important. We used our experience in the second half to make it.
“Big teams win when they don’t play good and we are a big team.”
Early on in the game Pirates made good use of the flanks with the likes of Thabo Matlaba and Segolela attacking down the wings, and that is where the game’s only goal came from.
Vermerzovic said after the game that was one of the areas they knew Swallows were weak and they should have attacked more down the flanks.
“Thanks to our pre-match analysis we know they were weak on the sides and with long balls, and it is exactly in that way that we scored, but we should have done it more,” concluded the coach.
