Moroka Swallows coach, Zeca Marques, did not mince his words following his sides’ 1-0 loss to Orlando Pirates in an Absa Premiership match on Satruday, saying they were ‘absolutely lucky’.
Marques felt his side dominated the game and were bitterly unlucky to come away with at least a point.
“A lucky win for Pirates, absolutely lucky,” said the Birds coach.
“We outclassed them, we outplayed them, we were very unlucky.
“When luck is not on your side there is not much you can do.
“The second half we completely dominated, we had the best chances of the game, Greg (Etafia – Swallows goalkeeper) was a mere spectator in the second half, but winning games is about goals and we never scored a goal.
“I take my hat off to the players, though, it was a great performance with Lefa (Tsutsulupa) the ‘Man of the Match’, it was an inspirational performance form him as the captain – you can’t ask any more from our players, they gave everything, the only thing missing from us today was the goal.”
“They never outperformed us, it was one moment in the game where they scored.
“We were dominating, we were defending well, we were controlling the tempo of the game. We controlled every aspect of the game, the only thing we didn’t do was score the goal.”
The result leaves Swallows hovering only seven points above the relegation zone in 12th place on 27 points, but Marques says he is not worried.
“There is no pressure, we need three or four points to be safe and there are 18 points to play for. We know we will be safe and we are looking forward to the next game,” concluded the coach.
