Result: Orlando Pirates 0-1 Mpumalanga Black Aces
Date: 2 April 2014
Venue: Orlando Stadium
Mpumalanga Black Aces recorded a 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates thanks to Pirates old boy Thulasizwe Mbuyane's 80th minute strike in their Absa Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium.
Clive Barker's men moved up to fifth on the Absa Premiership log, while Pirates remain in fourth spot.
Aces nearly opened the scoring in the 12th minute as Abia Nale's well weighted pass found Tendai Ndoro, but the striker's effort was kept out by the upright
The hosts registered their first effort on target in the 20th as Mpho Makola's curling free-kick was comfortably dealt with by Jackson Mabokgwane.
Eight minutes later and Ndoro threatened once again but this time the Aces striker was denied by the on rushing Fati Dauda, after getting beyond the Pirates defence.
Dauda came to his side's rescue in the 34th minute as the Ghana international got down well to keep out Ndoro's left-footed strike from close range.
The hosts were finding it difficult to contain Ndoro and he nearly made them pay for the slack defending two minutes later but the Zimbabwean fired horribly wide from the edge of the area with just Dauda to beat.
The first real threatening opportunity arrived in the 73rd minute as Makola's long range effort drew a fine save from Mabokgwane.
Aces took a deserving lead in the 79th minute through former Orlando Pirates striker Thulasizwe Mbuyane, the striker smashed a free kick past Dauda after the ball went right through the wall
Pirates failed to create any openings in the final stages as AmaZayoni held on for a impressive victory.
