Ajax Down 10-Man SuperSport

Absa Premiership

Result: Ajax Cape Town 2-0 SuperSport United

Date: 15 April 2014

Venue: Cape Town Stadium

Goals from Tashreeq Morris and Eleazar Rodgers earned Ajax Cape Town a 2-0 win over SuperSport United in their Absa Premiership encounter at the Cape Town Stadium.

Roger de Sa's men remain in 10th spot on the Absa Premiership table, while Cavin Johnson's charges also remain unchanged in fourth.

The opening stages of the first half proved to be a dull affair with neither side managing to create any openings.

However, Ajax were gifted the first chance in the 14th minute as a mistake from Edwin Gyimah set up Tashreeq Morris, but the young striker sliced his effort wide of the mark.

Lebohang Manyama tried his luck from distance two minutes later but the SuperSport midfielder fired his shot well wide of the target.

Mor Diouf came to the visitors' rescue in the 27th minute as he put his body on the line to keep the hosts from going ahead.

David Mathebula should have opened the scoring in the 27th minute but the SuperSport midfielder fired straight at Anssi Jaakkola from close range, after being picked out by Moeketsi.

The hosts eventually took the lead just before the halftime break after Morris slotted home after pouncing on an error from the SuperSport defence.

Bradley Grobler nearly leveled matters seven minutes after the restart as the striker forced Jaakkola into a fine save from distance.

Jaakkola came to Ajax's rescue once again in the 59th minute as the Ajax shot-stopper pulled off fine stop to deny Mathebula from distance.

Ajax's number one proved to be the busier of the two goalkeepers, and he was called upon in the 68th minute to brilliantly deny Manyama from distance.

SuperSport were reduced to 10 men two minutes later as Innocent Mkhabela received a second yellow card for a foul on Keagan Dolly.

The Urban Warriors took advantage minutes later as Eleazar Rodgers slotted past Ronwen Williams to double the home side's lead.

Dolly nearly added a third in the 81st but the Ajax winger smashed his effort against the woodwork, as Ajax held on for an impressive victory.
