Absa Premiership
Half Time: Orlando Pirates 1-0 Moroka Swallows
Date: 29 March 2014
Venue: Orlando Stadium
A single goal from Tlou Segolela saw Orlando Pirates take a 1-0 lead into the break in their Absa Premiership match against Moroka Swallows at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
The opening 45 minutes was a half largely dominated by the Buccaneers as they controlled the possession stakes and dictated the flow of the game.
Swallows offered very little in attack and rarely threatened the Pirates goal.
Instead, the Birds sat back in defence and opted to try break in behind the Buccaneers last line with long balls form the back, but did so with very little success.
Pirates, on the other hand, opted to use the width of the pitch to attack and concentrated most of their play down the left flank using the likes of Thabo Matlaba and Segolela to the fullest.
And that is how they found their opening goal with Matlaba breaking behind the Swallows back four, but he saw his initial shot saved only for Segolela to head home the rebound.
Swallows did start to find their footing towards the end of the half and created some chances on goal from a couple of corner-kicks, but they could not find a goal.
Statistically, in terms of shots on goal the teams were pretty evenly matched with four shots apiece.
