The PSL has confirmed that the league and Nedbank are working on the final touches in their preparations for what is expected to be a spectacular Nedbank Cup final this weekend.
Defending champions SuperSport United will battle it out with Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The league and Nedbank are working together to ensure that all runs smoothly on match-day.
Their preparations include the planning for safety and security, transportation, entertainment and match-day operations.
The PSL’s acting CEO Cambridge Mokanyane said, “Our behind-the-scenes team has been working very hard to ensure that everything is in place before the Nedbank Cup Final. We are all excited about this year’s Nedbank Cup final. We would like to thank the City of Durban, police and Durban metro for all their cooperation in the last few days. We are ready.”
The PSL’s GM of Safety and Security Phillip Masimong added, “Security plans are in place and we will adopt a zero tolerance on the day. We want people to come to the stadiums to enjoy football. The safety of the spectators remains our priority.”
Tickets for the 2012/13 Nedbank Cup final were sold out in just over 48 hours. The PSL has since warned fans to be vigilant and not to purchase tickets from the black market.
“I want to warn everyone that we will be looking out for all fraudulent tickets on Saturday. The police have been informed and we will make arrests on the spot,” Masimong explained.
Stadium gates will open at 11h00 and fans have been urged to come early. Spectators are also advised to use the Durban station parking and use the trains that will be running between the station and the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
