PSL-based Malawi internationals, Robin Ngalande and Robert Ng’ambi, were both on target for their nation as they drew with Kenya earlier today.
Wits forward, Ngalande, and Ng’ambi, who shone for Platinum Stars this season, had given The Flames a 2-1 lead with 9 minutes to go, however, an own goal from Chimanga Kayira meant that the spoils were shared in their World Cup qualifier.
The late draw has dealt the PSL duo’s hopes of playing in next year’s World Cup a heavy blow, and should Nigeria beat Namibia tonight then they will stand no chance of making it to Brazil.
However, should the Super Eagles drop points tonight then a win for Malawi against Nigeria in August would be enough to see them make it to the third qualifying round.
Despite Ngalande’s fine form for his country his future in South Africa remains up in the air, and it is yet to be seen whether he will still be in Mzansi or not next season.
