An Absa Premiership club has issued an apology for what it termed as ‘regrettable post-match events’ after a recent match.
Following last Friday’s league clash between the Team of Choice and Usuthu at the Harry Gwala Stadium, there was mayhem as unpleasant scenes of violence broke out, after the home side emerged as 1-0 winners of the KwaZulu-Natal derby.

Police were called to escort the match officials out of the field after the match as club officials furiously charged at them to show their displeasure at their officiating.
AmaZulu have issued an official club statement on their website apologising for the incident through their general manager Lunga Sokhela.
“AmaZulu FC have issued a statement of apology to the general public following last Friday night’s regrettable post-match events that took place after the fixture against Maritzburg United,” AmaZulu’s statement reads.

“The events that took place after the match are regrettable. We apologise to the sponsors, partners, supporters and the general public,” Usuthu general manager Lunga Sokhela said.
