The PSL chairman has been commended by former Mamelodi Sundowns general manager Peter Koutroulis.

Khoza has been praised for his role in the fraternity, as well as his influence in improving football in the country.
“I must tell you something, all the Premier Soccer League clubs and NFD (GladAfrica Championship) clubs must say thanks to one person and his name is Irvin Khoza. What Irvin has done for soccer here, no one will ever do it. I am saying this having never worked for Pirates as I worked for Sundowns and some NFD clubs but from what I see I know what I am talking about. After Dr Irvin I don’t know which person can keep the quality of soccer here and the value of the sport in this country,” said Koutroulis.

“There are many examples I can give you but I don’t want to get into details. But after many years the grant went up to R2 million rand for soccer clubs. R2 million every month, I think that’s good money for soccer clubs. It’s R500 000 for NFD clubs which is also good. Let me give you another example, because I know these things, the budget for a small club here is R40 million a year, that you need. For the course of the season plus cup competitions each and every club may receive up to R30 million per year, if you talk about grants and money from the sponsors for preparing for the cup competitions,” the ex-Chippa United CEO added.

“Dr Irvin is helping everybody and I know this for myself. A lot of clubs have financial problems and I know that when you speak to Dr Irvin he never says no to anyone. Tell me something, who brought the big sponsors to the league? Was it myself? No! It was Dr Irvin, it was under him,” concluded Koutroulis.
