Mbombela Claim Victory Over AmaTuks

PSL Promotion/Relegation Play-Off

Result: Mbombela United 2-1 AmaTuks

Date: 18 June 2016

Venue: Kanyamazane Stadium

Mbombela United edged out AmaTuks 2-1 in their PSL Promotion/Relegation dead rubber clash on Saturday.

Mlungisi Nkosi had the first shot on target in the third minute but it was Mbombela who took the lead a few minutes later. A poor clearance fell kindly for Phetolo Sekome and he drilled a shot into the bottom corner of the goal.

In the 15th minute the hosts had a great chance to double their lead as they won a penalty after Willem Mwedihanga brought down Thokozane Mshengu in the box. However, Dalyan Hawes saved Sekome's spot-kick.

The game saw few chances after the penalty, but Mwedihanga tried his luck from range in the 36th minute, only to direct it wide of the target.

A couple of minutes later Mxolisi Gumede did the same at the other end as he hit his attempt well wide.

There were few clear-cut chances after the break as both sides struggled to show enough precision in the final third.

However, in the 82nd minute AmaTuks found their equaliser. Substitute Thabo Mnyamane created the chance as his initial shot was parried back to Tuks. The ball found its way to Kebede in the aftermath and he scored via a deflection.

A mere three minutes later Mbombela were back in front as Gumede set up Tshediso Patjie who slotted a simple finish for the victory.

Here's how they lined up:

Mbombela United: 30 Khalishwayo, 13 Mkhatshwa, 42 Sithebe, 27 Mabuza, 22 Nkombelo, 12 Gumede, 6 Mphahleni, 29 Mshengu, 17 Sekome, 7 Manyike, 8 Nkosi
