Promotion/Relegation Playoffs
Half Time: Milano United 0-0 Black Leopards
Date: 28 May 2014
Venue: Athlone Stadium
It was a case of poor shooting in front of goal that saw the promotion/relegation playoff match between Milano United and Black Leopards at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday night enter the break goalless.
Despite the stalemate, it was an entertaining opening 45 minutes with both sides setting their stalls out in attack which made for an action-packed half.
Milano started the more positive of the two sides as they attacked with pace and vigour, but their finishing in front of goal let them down.
As the half progressed Leopards came into the match and probably finished the stronger of the two sides.
Still, there was a real cut and thrust to the game with neither side taking the ascendancy.
Both teams had their fair few chances in front of goal, but neither teams’ shooting was of a high enough standard to trouble the scorers – either shots on goal were timid or well-saved by the respective keepers.
Statistically, the possession stakes were pretty evenly shared, but Leopards had more shots on goal with seven attempts to Milano’s five.
